2006 Results

There were 4 categories in this years event.

To be eligible for a prize the team had to include at least one lady runner.

The Results were

Open Fastest   

First:    Karama Sutra                                Second:    Konnichiwa

The Dubai Falcons were the fastest however they were only a 3 man team.

First:    Hot Dogs                  Second:    Mirdif Milers 

Hash Fastest

First:    Captain Skidmark's Invincibles                   Second:    Year of the Dog

Hash Predictor

First:    The Blue Vein Stranglers  Second:    Muff Divers 

This years event was run in very wet and muddy conditions following severe storms the previous day.

Despite the appalling weather entries were received until the evening prior to the run. 2 additional entries were received on the day. Surprisingly only 1 team failed to show as well as one of the Dubai Falcon Runners.

23 Teams and 2 bikes participated.

The race route was a little different from previous years. It was decided to start the event on the Al Was Hospital Road near where the trail heads towards the water ski club. This was done for safety reasons as crossing the road near the cricket club would have been very dangerous. Due to bridge works on the Creek the route detoured across the waste land in front of Jadaf Shipyard down to the nursery area to Change 1. It continued across to the Garhoud bridge and back to the old route. Change 2 was in front of the Law Courts. (used to be Change 3) Festival City had to be negotiated after the Change 5. After the concerns about safety through this area it proved to be very easy. The final leg started at the Bird Hide opposite the cricket club and close to the old start finish line.

The areas around the Creek were extremely muddy which made for rather difficult running however it was a pleasant change from the normal hot and dusty conditions.

Littlegem introduced the circle and the RA of the day, Sucker.

Prizes were awarded as follows:-

Overall Predictor:  1st Hot Dogs, 2nd Mirdif Milers

Overall Fastest: 1st Karama Sutra (even though Dubai Falcons were faster, but did not have the correct team makeup)

Hash Predictor: 1st Year of the Dog, 2nd Blue Vein Stranglers

All Girls: Girls Run Too

Bikes: Stuff the Bike and Stuffit's Mate (shared)
