The rapid development of Dubai and in particular the areas to the south of Garhoud Bridge continue to make the running of this event more difficult.
The race route was an improvement on last year as it was possible to include Business Bay Bridge and to only make one loop along the Corniche up to Hamriya Port.
The start and finish of the race was in the area next to the Somerset Serviced Apartments behind the Al Jadaf Nurseries.
The first leg headed towards the Al Wasl Hospital before crossing the highway at the Wafi Shopping Centre to the change over at the Grand Cinema's car park.
The relay then continued along the traditional route beside the Creekside Park, past Dubai Law Courts, the British Embassy and Sheikh Saeed's old Palace to the mouth of the Creek at Port Rashid.
It was then through the Al Shindaga pedestrian tunnel and the loop via the Corniche and Al Hamriya Port before returning to traditions along the Creek to the Chamber of Commerce, past Maktoum Bridge, City Centre before reaching the Honda Showroom in Festival City.
From here the track took the new route and crossed Business Bay Bridge before heading to the finish line.
There were 21 Teams in this years event including the family team of Blincow 183.
This was a little disappointing, but probably due to the route problems last year.
It is expected that the 2009 route will also improve with much more of the Creek area near the Flamingo Reserve becoming accessible again.
The "Circle" and Prize Giving were conducted in a discreet area beside the Nurseries.
This was done as the Darjeeling Cricket Club has been demolished to make way for the Meydam project.
The RA of the day was Sucker who had many stories of the mornings relay.
He then awarded Prizes as per the results above. (carefully selected cases of beer, Champagne and Wine)
A cases of beer and a bottle of wine were also awarded to Blincow 183 for being the first family team in the history of the event.
The Creek Hash thanks everybody who participated and to the Marshals and Helpers who helped keep this great event alive despite the changed conditions.
See you all, plus more in 2009.
