ROUTE DETAILS

The details below are for the 2011 event.

The route will be changed so that all the Creek crossings can be incorporated and so that the event will finish at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.

The course will not change greatly, but the order of the legs may be different.

The actual paths and distances are still being finalised and will be updated shortly.

2011

The route for the 2011 event has been changed. The event will now be much closer to how it was run originally.

Registration will be at the finish point (and the first changeover point).

The relay will start at the head of the Creek opposite the old Country Club and will pass by the Flamingo Sanctuary following the edge of the water with the first changeover point where registration took place.

From there the second leg will pass by Jadaf Shipyard continuing underneath Business Bay Bridge with the second change just before Garhoud Bridge.

The course then follows that of previous years although the stage numbers are advanced by one.

Changeovers at the Law Courts, Shindaga Tunnel, Chamber of Commerce and Honda Showroom (Festival City) are unchanged.

From the Honda Showroom the course will head past Festival City towards Al Badia Golf Club changing over in the area beside the Mall (same as the final changeover point last year).

The final leg will then run Creekside through the Mall area before passing over Business Bay Bridge and on to the finish. (registration point)

6.   6. Chamber of Commerce to Honda Showroom          5.1km

7.   7. Honda Showroom to Festival City                             4.8km

8. Festival City to Al Jadaf Creek side                            5.3km 

THE NUMBERED BATON ALLOCATED AT REGISTRATION IS TO BE CARRIED ROUND THE COURSE, AND SHOWN TO MARSHALS AT EACH HANDOVER 

THE COURSE IS MARKED WITH ORANGE PAINT ON THE SAND TRACK STAGES ONLY.  THE ROUTE THROUGH TOWN IS NOT MARKED. 

THE ROUTE FROM THE HONDA SHOWROOM TO THE FESTIVAL CITY CAR PARK AND ON TO BUSINESS BAY BRIDGE WILL BE MARKED WITH WHITE CHALK ARROWS AT SIGNIFICANT POINTS.

RUNNERS SHOULD STUDY THE MAPS BEFORE EACH STAGE.  MOST OF THE ROUTE IS STRAIGHTFORWARD.  MARSHALS WILL DIRECT RUNNERS THROUGH THE TRICKY BITS – LOOK FOR PEOPLE WAVING IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF THE ROUTE!

IF ALL ELSE FAILS, REMEMBER WE ARE RUNNING AS CLOSE TO THE CREEK AS POSSIBLE SO MAKE FOR THE WATER! 

PLEASE DO NOT RUN ON ROADWAYS, USE PAVEMENTS. DO NOT CROSS OVER THE ROADS AT THE BRIDGES, THE ROUTE IS UNDER THE BRIDGES.

PACING OR TIME CALLING FROM VEHICLES TO RUNNERS DURING STAGES IS NOT ALLOWED.

Following the race the Circle and Prize Giving will take place including an assortment of soft and other drinks followed by a BBQ. (all included in the team cost)
